Meiji Jingu Shrine

I am going to throw this out there now but there is going to be ALOT of Japan posts. I mean it was the top of my bucket list for so long I knew I had to make the most of finally visiting. What that did mean  was we crammed in an impressive amount in 10 days, and I am going to tell you about it all! Not even sorry !

Next up is the Meiji Jingu Shrine located in a large park in Tokyo. You can spend hours wandering the pathways, walking through giant tori gates and marvelling and immaculately kept gardens.

My favourite part, as I am a total cliche, was the sake barrels. The beautifully, colourfully decorated barrels are really quite a sight and of course ideal to photograph !

Certainly a spot not to be missed and its perfect to escape the busy streets of Tokyo.

A tip when visiting all the shrines is to purchase a book to collect all your goshuin in. Whats a goshuin? Well they are unique seal which identify each shrine and are truly a work of art. For a small fee someone will hand paint the goshiun for you. The completed book then makes for the most wonderful keepsake! It is also lots of fun finding the right place to collect them !
