Who knew beaches in the UK could be so lovely. Ok well I kinda did but had never actually been so lucky to have glorious sunny days when visiting them.

A recent trip down to Devon included a day trip to Salcombe, and man what a beautiful place it is. Walk to the top of the high street for gorgeous views and if you're lucky watch a sailing race unfold.

Having wandered through the cute gift shops, hop on a water taxi over to East Portlemouth beach. It is a meer £3.00 return and they run really frequent. The beach is tiny but just what you want, clear blue sea and golden sand. Add in views of Salcombe itself it was a pretty lovely spot to sit and while away a couple of hours whilst the boys had headed out to sea to catch some mackerel. Another tip for you, if fishing is your thing, book a two hour boat trip for £20 and keep what you catch. There's a couple of companies that offer the trips, as a word of warning they do get booked up and only run if there is a minimum number, so it is worth trying to book a little in advance if you can.

Food wise there isn't loads of places but you can get fish and chips and I had a cracking hot dog from Sailor V complete with brioche bun, cheese, onion and avocado.
