Escadaria Selarón

Following on from a rainy Ipanema beach it seemed the obvious choice to bring you all some colour. The Escadaria Selarón or the Lapa steps if we are being a touch lazy, are an absolute delight.

The brain child of an eccentric Chilean artist, he brought colour, vibrance and a whole bit or randomness to some otherwise pretty dull concrete steps. If you are in Rio you would be a little silly not to go see them. It will take you a surprisingly long time to walk down a set of stairs, but don't rush, enjoy them and hunt out those mosaic tiles, you are bound to find one that just fits you perfectly!
