Maverick City Lodge

Unlike lots of places I have visited I didn't know too much about where to stay in Budapest so when Maverick Hostel was recommend it seemed like a good idea. After a little bit of confusion on arrival we actually ended up in Maverick City Lodge for our three night stay in Budapest.

This is the newer property in the Maverick chain so was absolutely squeaky clean. We were welcomed by a really friendly chap on reception who spoke perfect English. Our room was a double with en-suite as we didn't fancy the dorm this time ! Room had a really modern feel and there was plenty of space and a perfect little shower en-suite room. Literally no complaints on the room at all.

As I was here with a friend and only for a few days we were't overly penny pinching so ate out every meal- this obviously meant I never used the hostel kitchen and to be honest I didn't even look, but from the website and given the rest of the hostel I am sure it is more than up to scratch.

The hostel had plenty of info on what to do in the city, and the guys on reception were really helpful too they gave us great recommendations on where to go out in the evening (more about that in another post). The hostel also offered lots of trips/excursions etc we joined in on the palinka evening where most of the hostel gathered down in the lobby to try the local liquor. Warning it has one mighty kick !!!!

Now for the boring details....Wifi was free and worked in the rooms with no issues at all. Price for a private room was £50 each for three nights which to be honest is a pretty sweet deal as it was just as nice as some hotels I have stayed in ! Linen and towels are provided as well as lots of other added extras.

For me though the best part was its location, it was perfect. It is located in the Jewish quarter right by loads of cool restaurants and bars. You can walk everywhere from here which for a city break is always a major plus point. There is a little mini mart on the next corner which sells all you need for a few night stay and as the hostel wasn't dry, meaning we could bring in a few beers for our room.

Maverick City lodge is easily one of the nicer hostels I have stayed in, its new, clean, staff are fab and location is perfect. If you are heading to Budapest and wondering where to stay check out Maverick City Lodge they currently have some special offers on too, absolute winner.
